About Machiko
Officially registered as Shizu-7132, this unique cultivar was affectionately nicknamed "Machiko" by local tea farmers, who felt its original name sounded too much like a robot or serial number. Today, the nickname has become a beloved way to refer to this distinctive tea.

About Ryogochi
Nestled in the mountains of Shimizu, Ryogochi is a hidden tea-growing region known for producing teas with exceptional fragrance and depth of flavour. Large differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures, gentle mountain sunlight, and morning and evening mist drifting through the forests create ideal conditions for growing richly flavourful, aromatic teas. The region is especially known for teas with a clean, elegant astringency and refreshing finish.
