Kayo O’Young / soft cream-colored deep bowl 2023

This deep bowl was made in 2023 by Kayo O'Young.

While the bowl has a soft, rounded form, the rim has been gently pressed at four points to create a subtle petal-like shape. Layers of glaze overlap around the exterior, and the central section has developed bluish tones as a result of reduction firing in a gas kiln.

Kayo’s signature glaze drawing appears in two areas on the exterior and on the interior of the bowl, using turquoise and iron glazes. These expressive markings add movement and contrast, bringing an energetic quality to the vessel’s quiet, organic form.
