At MIKA, we believe in personally connecting with every artist we feature. Before showcasing their work, we meet each artisan to understand both their craft and their character. This allows us to confidently and responsibly present their creations, ensuring that we share their art with pride and authenticity. Each artist in our collection is committed to their craft, bringing not only their unique vision but also the skill and techniques to bring that vision to life. We are dedicated to supporting these artisans and their creations for the long term, offering pieces that reflect both passion and mastery.

Meet the Maker — Satoshi Yoshikawa

Satoshi Yoshikawa trained in traditional Japanese pottery, including Tsuboya ware in Okinawa and Bizen ware in Okayama, where he worked with wood-fired kilns.

In Japan, he focused on creating matcha tea ware, presenting his work in Tokyo, Okayama, Niigata, and internationally in China.

Since moving to Canada in 2019, he has been designing and producing MIKA’s original pottery.

In 2026, he will introduce a new series, Utsuroi — inspired by the quiet transitions of light, season, and time.
