Join us as we use exquisite Ochoko made by our talented ceramic artist Satoshi Yoshikawa, enhancing your sake experience like never before. Nancy Matsumoto, esteemed sake author of "Exploring the World of Japanese Craft Sake: Rice, Water, Earth," and Mariko Tajiri, renowned sake educator, will be there to guide your evening.

Bio

Nancy matsumoto is a writer and editor who specializes in the areas of sake, regenerative agriculture, food, and culture. She is the co-author of the James Beard award-winning Exploring the World of Japanese Craft Sake: Rice Water Earth (Tuttle Publishing, 2022) and the holder of three sake certifications. Former critic for Air Canada enRoute’s “Canada’s Best New Restaurants,” she also the editor the forthcoming book, By the Shore of Lake Michigan (UCLA Asian American Studies Press), an English-language translation of Japanese tanka poetry. She is now at work on a book about women at the forefront of food system change.

Mariko is a f&b professional (professional eater and drinker), always thinking about what to drink and eat next. Can often be found slurping sake, wine, coffee and water whilst dreaming up imaginary potato chip flavour combinations.

Creator of Hakko Gakko, school of fermentation, a bottle shop (coming soon!) and a WSET sake educator.
